Heeere’s Sandy!
Pretty much me emerging from the Summer months.
I’m back! Apologies for being MIA over the last month. The official reason is that the Summer months are a busy time for me at work. The unofficial answer is that I’m still in shock that the bunnies on the trampoline were AI and I’m still reeling from this discovery.
But all joking aside, it has been busy for me. When I started this website and this blog, the goal was to carve out a little piece of the internet for myself in the event that the TikTok ban went through. While the ban may still happen, it seems like the can continues to get kicked down the road. I work hard on the content I create, and I would be devastated if it all disappeared with the platform. I have since started the practice of saving all videos so that they can live on this site if the ban ever does go through.
Around the same time I started the website, I thought “why not write a book too?” because apparently I’m a glutton for punishment who hates to relax and wants to do everything at once.
I’m coauthoring with the amazing Angel De Guerra. If everything goes according to plan, the book will be published early 2026. We can’t wait to create a fun and engaging guide to risk management designed for new risk managers. We’ll have jokes! Interviews! Footnotes with Star Wars references! We are super excited about this project and can’t wait for you to read it.
I’ve also partnered with the awesome team at WorkCompCollege to create a course and certification for managing industrial mental injury claims. I’ll send an official announcement sometime in September.
Also coming up in September: The ELEVATE WorkComp Conference in San Diego! I’ll be on two panels this year addressing the topics of comorbidities in workers’ comp and leadership. If you’re in San Diego on September 3-4 I would love to see you!
I’m doing my best to get back into schedule with blog posting, and I have a few more resources I’m looking to add to my page.
By the way, thank you, for your patience as I dig my way out of my Summer to do list, for your continued readership, for sharing in this mission to make risk management and insurance education engaging, fun and accessible. I really do love this work, and it means the world to me that you would take the time to engage in the content I create.
